Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library is a volunteer organization which strives to support the library in its mission to fulfill the informational, educational, technological, cultural, and literary needs and interests of its patrons by providing free and convenient access to the world of ideas through its collections of materials, services and programs. The Friends assist the library by providing supplemental financial support and extensive volunteer efforts during special programs and activities. Won't you be a Friend of YOUR library? For additional information, please contact the library at (804) 492-5807.

Volunteers

Library Volunteers are an absolutely vital part of the Cumberland County Public Library staff. Volunteers staff the desk each and every day, providing basic patron services and ensuring timely and accurate shelving of materials that have circulated. Volunteers may also be asked to take part in special projects, such as rearranging of materials ("shifting" in "library lingo") or creating displays for holidays or special events. If you would be interested in regularly volunteering some of your time at the library, whether two hours a month or ten hours a week, please call Nellie Glenn or Melodi Goff at (804) 492-5807.
