AARP Tax Help
As of 1/4/2021, the AARP Tax-Aide volunteers will not be doing taxes at the library for the upcoming tax season.
At the present time, the AARP Tax-Aide Program will not be returning for the 2021 year, due to risks associated with not being able to be socially distant while preparing returns. If the current pandemic situation improves so that restrictions are lifted and the tax season is extended as it was last year, then the Tax-Aide volunteers MAY decide to return to do tax preparation later this year. In case this is not possible, those who need to get their taxes done should seek out a qualified tax professional. Any updates to this information will be posted here or on our Facebook page.
For many years the Cumberland County Public Library has been able to provide space to the AARP Tax-Aide program in order for their volunteers to help local citizens with filing their personal income tax returns throughout the tax season. We are happy to provide that free service again this year on Mondays from February 3 until April 13 (not including Presidents’ Day, February 17). Information on making an appointment can be found on the picture below.
Information you need to bring with you to file your taxes with AARP Tax-Aide are:
- Social Security card
- Photo ID for self, spouse, and ALL dependents (for children without a photo ID, please bring their Social Security card)
- Last year’s tax return
- ALL income tax documents
- If stock was sold, you MUST bring the date of purchase and the original purchase amount.
