The Fall Edition of The Reading Road Trip!

Get ready! Because Checkers and Snoozer returned this fall for an episode each week that focused on STEAM (science, technology, engineering and math). See the episodes below.

This week’s Final Fall 2021 Episode:

Checkers and Snoozer celebrate the fun year of reading road trips they have while on a trip around Fuzzleland collecting New Year’s books!


Fall 2021 Schedule:

The schedule has focused on the following topics:

  • September 6 – Dinosaurs – click on the picture to see the episode on YouTube! Get the T-Rex craft here or at the library.

Dinosaurs: Checkers and Snoozer travel to a museum to see a real dinosaur egg. Along the way, they talk about great dinosaur books and discover amazing things about Dinosaurs!


  • September 13 – 3D Printing – click on the picture to see the episode on YouTube! Get your watch craft here or at the library.

3D Printing: Checkers and Snoozer discover the amazing world of 3d printing. They will visit a real graphic design company and learn how to print Checkers a new watch!


  • September 20 – Fruits & Vegetables – click on the picture to see the episode on YouTube! Get your banana craft here or at the library.

Checkers and Snoozer are on a mission to learn where fruits and vegetables come from, why they are important and how we can grow them right in our backyard!

Science time! Checkers and Snoozer are off to perform a science experiment! They will be reading science books and making crafts along the way!


  • October 4 – Fire Safety Week – click on the picture to see the episode on YouTube! Get your fire truck craft here or at the library.

Checkers and Snoozer are visiting a real fire department! Along the way, they will be learning all about fire safety and reading fire safety books.


  • October 11 – Outer Space – click on the picture to see the episode on YouTube! Get your rocket craft here or at the library.

Snoozer is going on a space mission! Checkers and Snoozer will be reading some of the coolest space books and learning more about astronauts, the moon, and other planets in our solar system!


  • October 18 – Music – click on the picture to see the episode on YouTube! Get your xylophone craft here or at the library.

Checkers and Snoozer explore the extraordinary world of music. They will learn music history and how to play a musical instrument!


  • October 25 – Halloween Special – click on the picture to see the episode on YouTube! Get your witch craft here or at the library.

In this Halloween Special, Checkers and Snoozer are off on a mystery reading road trip! They will be exploring spooky Halloween books along the way and may run into some ghostly guests.


  • November 1 – Disabilities/Illnesses – click on the picture to see the episode on YouTube! Get your dolphin craft here or at the library.

Checkers and Snoozer learn about disabilities and how they affect humans and even animals. They will visit Amy, a gymnast battling type 1 diabetes, and discuss their meeting with famous dolphin, Winter, who lost her tail in an accident. They also will learn how science and technology have helped disabled people.

Snoozer learns not to be afraid to go to the Doctor, with the help of his own doctor, Dr. Dan! Checkers will also be discussing books about going to the doctor.

Checkers and Snoozer take time to discuss what they are thankful for, learn about Thanksgiving history, and read thanksgiving books.


  • November 29 – Exercise – click on the picture to see the episode on YouTube! Get your basketball craft here or at the library.

While traveling on this reading road trip, Snoozer learns the importance of exercise on a regular basis. They will also be checking out fun books about exercising and playing sports!

Checkers and Snoozer travel to Winter Woods to experience the fun of snow and Winter! While on their journey, they will check out some super winter books!

On a snowy day, Checkers and Snoozer are stuck inside. They will make the best of it by playing games, reading books, and even learning some information about the history of games.
